Stephen is our wonderfully creative Director of Music, whose style and direction can be summed up with five E's: engaging, energetic, enthusiastic, and exceptionally experienced. As Director of Music he oversees our other music staff and directs our Chancel Choir, and he serves whenever called upon for a variety of roles. He welcomes whoever would like to join the Chancel Choir, some of whom are accomplished singers and some of whom have little training but a great desire to serve by blending their voices, all for the glory of God.
Stephen earned a Masters of Music degree in Choral Conducting at Pacific Lutheran University. He is Associate Professor of Music (Choir andVoice) and Director of Choral Studies at Andrews University in Berrien Springs, a position he has held since 1993. He oversees the graduate choral conducting degree and programming, as well as conducts the Department of Music's four choirs. At the same time he keeps an active schedule, guest-conducting choral festivals and lecturing throughout the United States and abroad. Stephen and his wife Susan, who is on the Religion faculty at Andrews University, live in the Berrien Springs area and take great delight in the ongoing lives of their four children, each excellent musicians in their own right.
Stephen has been FCC's Director of Music since 1993.
