Given her enthusiasm and spunk, Pastor Katie puts most of her energy into the children, youth and young adults of the congregation. Her ministry ranges from working with the junior and senior high youth groups, providing leadership for elementary Christian Education, empowering the young people in the congregation, organizing family worship and coordinating with the youth band, teaching Sunday School, and letting her creative side loose on bulletin boards. She insists that children and youth are the church of today and that it is the church's privilege and responsibility to encourage and grow their God-given potential. She strives towards creating a holistic understanding of church as family by weaving together worship and education into a relevant and Christ-centered experience.

Katie recently graduated from Princeton Theological Seminary (M.Div.). While at Seminary she gained experience working with urban ministry in Trenton, ministry to those with disabilities as a chaplain, international ministry through a yearlong intensive pastoral internship in Groomsport, Northern Ireland (near Belfast), and initiating a youth ministry in a large suburban church in Flemington, New Jersey. Born and raised in St. Louis, MO, Katie has had the privilege of being shaped by several different parts of the body of Christ, including her home church in St. Louis--St. Peter’s Evangelical UCC. She also has been involved in church camp, Campus Crusade for Christ, and worshiped at Evangelical Free and Missionary Alliance Churches. She was ordained in the United Church of Christ in the April 2011.

Katie and her husband Eric are both excited to be part of the First Congregational family. Together they enjoy sushi, Cardinal baseball games, M*A*S*H, traveling around the world, and helping young people grow closer to God in their faith journeys.

Pastor Katie has been our Associate Minister since June of 2010.
